To-date, the Axcelerator Freedom Budgeting Program assists current mortgage holders by creating a structured finance plan that encourages clients to reduce or pay out their mortgage earlier than the contracted term. Whilst it has been successful in assisting clients to achieve their goals, it is used predominantly by clients who have realised their over-commitment to large home loans or are experiencing difficulties in managing day-to-day expenses and require assistance.
It is our view that First Home Buyers are the most vulnerable. Many financial institutions have mortgage repayment, stamp duty or budget calculators on the Internet to assist potential borrowers. In our experience, these calculators have limitations, as decisions are left to the consumer to ensure information and scenarios are correct without any validation by a third party. In other words, these calculators are not personalised enough.
